Gastronomic photography: A journey from the eye to the palate
After more than 14 years as a food photographer, one thing is very clear to me: the objective of my work should always be to generate anticipation and provoke the desire to eat what is seen, attracting more audiences and enhancing the profitability of the business.
The tasting of any dish always begins with the eyes. We all know that food enters through the eyes, and some even say that digestion starts with the sense of smell. This already gives us a hint of how important aromas, colors, and visual and olfactory harmonies are in prompting us to take action.
Considering that a restaurant’s main product is none other than its menu and the dishes that come out of its kitchen, it is almost imperative for such businesses to showcase high-quality photographs on their social networks.
If you are reading this and happen to run a restaurant, stop and answer these two questions: Do the photographs and audiovisual materials you publish do justice to the dishes you cook? Would you like to communicate your value proposition with higher image quality?
Investing in good photographs of your dishes is always highly profitable.
I invite you to put yourself in the minds of your clients to understand how they make decisions. Haven’t you ever seen a photograph of food and immediately felt the desire to eat it?
If you want your target audience to come and experience your restaurant, welcome them through your social networks and website with attractive and professional images that generate anticipation and evoke the desire to eat what you showcase.
Always remember that good food photography is an invitation to a journey of emotions, taking your clients from sight to palate.
